Ever wonder what a complete nerd out on video games would sound like on the podcast? Well, here you go! In this episode, hosts Adam Derus and Steve Glynn have so much fun talking with Tommy Ludan, Player 1 at CARCADE, the “Anywhere Arcade.” Learn how Tommy went from daytime attorney to bringing social entertainment to Milwaukee through engaging #PARKandPLAY events. And yes, Steve tries to keep Tommy and Adam from super nerding out but he loses that game! But, good news, there could be a Tecmo Bowl matchup between Adam and Steve in the near future...
We’re looking for Game Changers.
THE OBJECTIVE (the job)
Gain experience in social gaming and entertainment as a CARCADE Level 1 Intern. You will be working with and reporting directly to PLAYER 1 (the CEO and Founder of CARCADE).
Duties will include: Graphic design – including logos, websites, overlays, fonts, and animation. Audio/ video production and editing- game stream and web show content. Social media promotion and development. Creation of advertising and marketing materials. On-site setup (indoor and outdoor) and customer engagement. and of course… PLAYING VIDEO GAMES.
HOW TO PLAY (the essentials)
Status as a current student (undergraduate or graduate). Passion for gaming and social interaction. Attention to detail and organization. Compliance with #ResponsiblyDistanced gaming and public health guidelines. Evening availability (for scheduled game nights, with notice provided). STREAMING GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE A BONUS.
Who is Player 1?
CARCADE was built and founded by Milwaukee’s own Tommy Ludan.
Whether going over to a friend’s house or the local arcade to play games, social entertainment and in-person gaming was the spark behind CARCADE and is the heart of what we enjoy and hope to provide. After some brainstorming and a few careful measurements, the #AnywhereArcade was born. It debuted on Opening Day 2019 and has since expanded to hosting game nights, leagues, tournaments, and livestreams - both indoors and outdoors throughout the city.
